COOL CAT CURIOSITIES

When a friend showed me a photo of her adorable cat named Harriet the other day I asked about the breed. “Ragdoll”, she answered. That peaked my curiosity to learn that when the cat is picked up its body goes limp. That led to more research and I learned some amazing facts, one being there are over 100 breeds of cats. I hadn’t realized how much cats and humans have in common. We share about 90% DNA, have similar brain structure (important for memory) and we both are susceptible to many health issues. Both cats and humans require daily routines, need close social bonds and experience stress. There is so much we all can learn from cats. The book, REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF MY CAT HAS TAUGHT ME by Cynthia Copeland supplements what my calico cat Drizzle teaches me every day.

Albert Einstein, himself a lover of all animals, especially cats is quoted as saying, “There are two means of refuge from the misery of life: music and cats.”
